David Stroud 11th January ’04
David began by talking about Joseph, and the length of time that passed between him being given the dream of his family bowing down to him and it becoming a reality. He also went on to explain how, when God sets your heart on something there are often all kinds of obstacles that can get in the way of us actually achieving it.
1. What is it that you feel God has called you to do? 2. How can you be sure that you’re doing what God wants you to do? 3. What obstacles can get in the way of you fulfilling all that God has for you? 4. How can you overcome these obstacles?
David went on to give 3 different qualities that Joseph possessed, which Pharaoh singled out that qualified him to be singled out as his next in command. These were: Discernment 5. What is discernment, and what kind of things should we be discerning about? Wisdom 6. What’s the difference between wisdom and knowledge, and how do we get wisdom – are we born with it? Being full of the Spirit - It’s obvious what you need to do for this one, so if there’s time, in pairs (or other groups, as appropriate) pray for each other to be filled with the Spirit for their jobs/daily lives.
