Mourning over sin
Beatitudes 2
Matthew ch.4v23-Ch.5v11
Acts Ch.2v22-24/32-39
Beatitudes = Ascribing
blessedness to particular virtues
Gods blessing will be upon
those who exhibit these qualities in their lives.
They are Gods manifesto for a
holy Life a life that seeks first the Kingdom of God
How were these virtues manifested in the life of Jesus?
In Matthew 5v2 it says ‘Jesus
began to teach’
This follows a time of
healing for all who were sick Ch.4v24
Jesus is teaching that the way
we live and our relationship with God is more important than our physical
situation.
Look at Ch.5v29. What does this mean in the light of
the above?
Blessed are those who mourn (Ch5v4)
Mourn = To lament/To grieve
It is a passionate expression
of grief not just remorse. Acts 2v37/Isaiah
6v5
What do these verses teach us about mourning?
We are to develop a ZERO
TOLERANCE towards sin a repentant heart that turns away from all that God
hates. Ps.36v1-2/ Ps. 45v7/Luke 18v9-14
What does repentance lead to?
For they will be
comforted (Ch5v4)
Psalm 32v1-5/Psalm 30v5
Gods comfort is more than a
there-there never mind. It’s His ability to deal with the root of the problem,
our sin and guilt and to remove it from us bringing forgiveness and joy
Ps.23v3 ‘He
restores my soul’
Romans 8v1
What does it mean to know forgiveness and joy? What
does ‘no condemnation’ mean?
How does satan use our past against us and what are
our weapons against him?
