Characteristics of the Kingdom Community Acts 2  :42

They devoted themselves to….. What do you think this really means ?

It is not a casual or occasional thing but a devotion of the heart to god and his people. It is not a duty but a way of life and of first priority.

The Apostles teaching

Word based exaltation and instruction to enable us to know who we are as the people of God and how we should live to please God.

How can we show our devotion to the Word of God?

And to the fellowship

Caring/Sharing/ befriending/relationships/giving/hospitality/being involved.

The word fellowship  KOINONIA = `Sharing together in’  `Partnership’

How can we express and develop fellowship within the Church?

The Breaking of Bread

They went from house to house breaking bread = Sharing a meal, and in this context remembered The Lord’s death, using the bread and wine as symbols of his body and blood.

This is a fellowship activity shared in the context of relationship.

When and how can we break bread together?

And to Prayer

Praying individually/For each other/ together/

This must be a common activity amongst the people of God.

Give examples of prayer in the New Testament Church and in the life of Jesus?

Read and prayer through the pattern for prayer given by Jesus in response to the  disciples request `Teach us to pray’ in

Matthew 6:9-13

Pray that as a Church we will become a people devoted to prayer this year.
